Commissioning and membership service 8 September 2024
We held our annual Commissioning Service at Broxbourne, a cherished event where we formally recognize those entrusted with new and those continuing with responsibilities following our Annual General Meeting. This tradition is not only a significant start to the church year but also a reflection of biblical commissioning practices. It was a joyful occasion as we launched our pastorate theme of Harmony and also welcomed four new members into our congregation, James, Wendy, Laurence and Liz, marking their formal inclusion

May Market 2024
The team of Bite, Bite, Woodall and Woodall has been the driving force behind the May Market for many, many years and it works well, however, we are as nothing without the support and hands-on hard work of the church family. So again, together, we did it! We raised an incredible £2237.95 a really significant contribution to church funds, and offering an accessible and welcoming outreach to our neighbours. Well done ALL and thank you. Gardeners grew
Exciting news – Swift boxes at Hertford URC and Broxbourne URC, Summer 2024
Swift numbers have declined by 62% since the mid 90’s. One reason for this decline is that many of their traditional nest sites, in gaps and crevices under tiles and in the eaves of houses, are being lost when buildings are improved. Modern buildings are built to be airtight and keep birds out from the start. Swift boxes can help displaced birds and those returning to breed for the first time. In time, we hope Swifts can recolonise nearby areas where
‘Soul Stories’ – Contribution by Revd Mark Robinson
In the vibrant streets of Brazil, amid the rhythmic nuances of languages and cultures, Tessa - my spouse, and I found ourselves at a small café. We were drawn to the aroma of freshly brewed coffee mingling strongly with the warm Jaragua do Sul breeze. It was there, in the heart of that city, that my spiritual journey took an unexpected turn. You see, I had felt a call to serve God very early on in my life, which, now
Drop in Art Group
A drop in art group is held monthly at Broxbourne URC. It runs from 1.45 - 3.30 pm on a chosen afternoon each month. It offers an opportunity for anyone to come along during the afternoon to explore a selection of art materials. Just drop in to spend a little time exploring with pencils/paints/pastels/charcoal and paper. Everyone is welcome. There is no cost. There is also an option to add the resulting artwork to a display in the church hall.
Minister’s AGM Report
"I thank my God every time I remember you. In all my prayers for all of you, I always pray with joy because of your partnership in the gospel from the first day until now, being confident of this, that God who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus." (Philippians 1:3-6) Reflecting on our shared journey, I am filled with gratitude for the opportunities we have had to grow together in
War Memorial Restored
For those who have not heard the story of the War Memorial Tablet, it was consecrated in 1921 at the Congregational Church in Hoddesdon and bears 12 names of members who gave their lives during the 1914-18 war. When the church was demolished in the mid 1960s it was salvaged and brought to be stored at 91 High Road, Broxbourne, which was being used by the congregation during the building of our new and very modern one. In October 1972,
